Introduction
to 3d Computer Graphics and Animation |

Week
1
It's
a short week but we're going to jump right in.
We'll begin with course overview and then dive
right into our first modeling and animation. more

2
We'll
begin the week with more on the user
interface. Then on to the basics of
non-organic modeling! Splines, Lofting,
Extruding, Lathing to create a simple
3d logo. more |

3
Our
first project begins. We'll take the TAS logo into
the 21st century! We'll go more into depth with
cameras, key frame animation, materials and lens
flares. more |

Week
4
Time
to set up and animate our camera rig. Next
we'll dress up the scene with a few cool
effects like object glow, lenses flares and
maybe even a particle system explosion! more

5
We'll
be putting the finishing touches on our logo
animations this week after we learn some
basic CG lighting principles and familiarize
ourselves with the Material Editor. more

Week
6
Keep
an eye out for our finished TAS logos! We
are going to take a deeper look into Max's
standard lighting and begin a more rigorous
study of materials and shaders. more |

Week
7
Radiosity?
Global Illumination? Caustics? Raytracing?
Skylights? Huh......? An introduction to
advanced lighting techniques and polygon
modeling awaits. more |

8
We'll
continue our work using the Brazil Rendering
System in conjunction with glass and metal
materials. Polygon modeling will also be
introduced. more |

A
flying spinkick following by a cartwheel
punch topped off with a spinning backkick!
Is Mr Egge going spastic? Nope, its an introduction
to Character Studio and motion flow. more |

We're
ready to link our character mesh to the Biped
and then on to setting up cameras. If you're
good, I'll show you how to set up Matrix
style camera shots....very cool! more |

The
art of cinematography. What makes a "good" camera
shot and what is juxtaposition anyway? As
promised, Matrix camera shots. Bullet Time....gotta
have it! more |

A
few more tips on setting up cameras and you're
on your way! It's a short week but let's
aim for finishing motion flow scripting and
a serious chunk of our camera work. more |

Our
cameras are in place and the scene is set!
We'll start off the week with an introduction
to digital video and audio editing using
Adobe Premiere. This program rocks! more |

Work,
work, work... Your rendered and edited animation
is due 4:00 Friday. So much to learn, so

perfecting our explosions we'll use MicroDEM
to create accurate terrains and fly your
choice of craft thru them whether they be
an X-Wing, F-21 or even a teapot. more |
